TransCanada subsidiary signs system expansion
December 31, 2015
TransCanada Corp.’s NOVA Gas Transmission subsidiary has signed contracts for a US$570 million system expansion by 2018. The expansion would allow the system to transport about 2.7 Bcfd (76.4 X 106 m³/d) of natural gas.
The expansion includes multiple projects that consist of 54.6 miles (88 km) of pipeline, a new compressor, 35 new and expanded meter stations and other associated facilities.
Next year, the National Energy Board will receive applications to build and operate the project. Construction should start in 2017, TransCanada said.
The new contracts, according to TransCanada, are the result of growth in northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia.
